WorkinOnIt – Spoken Word Poetry, Live Music & Open Mic

The Stratford is proud to present WorkinOnIt, the new artistic collective of actors, DJs, musicians, poets and comedians, with the intention to encourage and explore the combined creative talents, and blend the art forms of Poetry, Music, Comedy & Film. Expect a whole evening of entertainment set inside the Mezzanine; the laid back yet glamorous cocktail lounge of The Stratford, overlooking the triple height lobby of the brasserie below.

With the medium of Spoken Word as the starting point, WorkinOnIt will create a unique entertainment experience, develop the audience’s talents, and capture the next creative wave of rising stars. The night will involve an open-mic opportunity to showcase artists’ work, and to create an organic creative meeting place for up and coming artists to gather, network and exchange ideas. Headlining poets will then take the stage, and the evening will finish with a live performance.
Sign up for a slot on the open-mic is from 7pm, spaces are limited.

Headlining poets for the launch are Mr Gee, best known as the founder of Chill Pill, writing instant poems for Russell Brand’s Radio show and hosting “Bespoken Word”, “Rhyme & Reason” and “Poetic Justice” on Radio 4, and Ruth Sutoyé, a multidisciplinary artist, creative producer, Roundhouse Resident Artist and Barbican Young Poet alumna.

Followed by a performance from Randolph Matthews, an internationally acclaimed Jazz artist, singer songwriter and composer from London.
